Sriniketana MuseumThe Sriniketana Museum and Research Centre (SMRC) was established in 2016 by Sriniketana Trust, a Non-Governmental entity. It is dedicated to conserve and promote the rich traditional and rural heritage of Karnataka and Dakshina Kannada in particular. The Centre is privileged to be patronized by His Holiness Sri Sri Sri Dr. Vidyaprasannateertha Swamiji, the pontiff of Sri Samputa Narasimhaswamy Subramanya Mutt, Kukke Subramanya. Housed in the serene environs of Kukke Subramanya village, it reflects one of India’s most culturally rich regions.
SMRC is the first of its kind in Karnataka and the country, emphasizing rural heritage and grassroots traditions. Today, the Centre is recognized as the epicenter for the confluence of traditions emanating from ancient socio-cultural ethos.
The Centre houses pre-historic materials, sculptures, inscriptions, coins, paintings, frescoes, folklore instruments, and agricultural equipment of great cultural value. Currently displayed at Sri Abhaya Ganapathi Temple, these collections are planned to be moved to a new edifice in Kukke Subramanya.
SMRC is more than a museum – it is also a Research and Publication Wing.
It organizes national and state-level seminars, conferences, symposia, and workshops.
Plans are underway to offer diploma courses in collaboration with Karnataka Sanskrit University and other institutions.

The region is blessed with cultural and spiritual landmarks such as Adisubramanya Temple, Sri Samputa Narasimhaswamy Matha, Biladwara caves, Abhaya Ganapati Temple, Sri Vanadurga Temple, and Kumara Parvata trekking peak. SMRC aims to connect heritage with tourism, offering enriching visitor experiences.
The project brings together scholars, historians, archaeologists, cultural experts, and conservators. It works in collaboration with academic institutions, governmental agencies, NGOs, and philanthropic entities to achieve its mission systematically.
SMRC was founded by Sriniketana Trust, blessed by His Holiness Sri SriSri Dr. Vidyaprasannateertha Swamiji. It began its journey in Kukke Subramanya dedicated to rural heritage.
SMRC began documenting and conserving pre-historic artifacts, sculptures, coins, and cultural objects. Research projects explored Karnataka’s dynastic history and rural traditions.
The Research & Publication Wing was launched. Seminars and workshops brought scholars together. Collections are now displayed at Sri Abhaya Ganapathi Temple premises.
A new dedicated museum building is planned in Kukke Subramanya. Expansion of collections and cultural tourism initiatives will connect visitors with Karnataka’s heritage.
